Honoring Harriet Tubman
Someone told me about an online calendar that notes holidays around the world for each day of the year (http://www.earthcalendar.net/index.php). According to that, March 10 is Harriet Tubman Day.
Harriet Tubman freed countless slaves and was known as the “Moses of her people.” She was one of the historic African Americans featured in a magazine-format booklet that Coke distributed in the late 1960s, called the Golden Legacy Series. (Others featured in their own books were Toussaint L'Ouverture, Crispus Attucks and Benjamin Banneker.)
While I plan to recognize a few days from the earthcalendar site that are not so historic, I’m honored to recognize Ms. Tubman today.
