The new “Sex and the City” movie opens this week, and some of the members of my team have had the opening on their calendars for months!
In Great Britain, diet Coke has teamed up with Patricia Field, who has been called the “fashion genius” behind Sex and the City, but was technically called the costume designer for the TV show.
Field has created four designs for the diet Coke contour bottle -- all with bright colors and women’s faces. The limited edition diet Coke “City Collection” is being sold exclusively at the Selfridges store (in London and Manchester, if you’re in the UK or heading over).
This is not the first time that Coke in Great Britain has teamed up with leading fashion designers to craft diet Coke packaging. Field follows in the footsteps of Julian MacDonald, Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders and Manolo Blahnik, all of whom have created limited-edition diet Coke designs in past years.
I have to confess I did buy a set of these!
Phil, where can I find out about Japanese coke bottles. Got one from a couple of years ago in a box with a toy at the top. Was told it was only issued via the Japanese Disney park and is a reasonably rare collectible but would love to know a bit more.
cheers

Is every bottle suposed to be a character from the series?

Bretty - Glad you like the Sex and the City bottles, and your Coke bottle from Japan sounds great! This is the kind of bottle that could be desirable for a few groups of collectors -- those who collect Coke bottles, those who collect Disney items and those who concentrate on toys in general. The fact that it's a Disney item should raise the value beyond that of an interesting international Coke bottle. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of these bottles from Japan sell at auction recently and don't have a price estimate for you. A few places to check for the values of Coke collectibles based on recent sales prices are on the Coca-Cola Collectors Club's website and on eBay. Thanks -- Phil

Veronica - Each bottle is supposed to represent a different part of a woman's life: gold for career, red for passion, pink for love and turquoise for fashion. That said, the members of my team who loved the TV show say they see Charlotte and Samantha in two of the drawings! Thanks -- Phil

hi can you give me a price for the coca cola sex and the city bottles, thanx
Posted by: dizy | September 09, 2008 at 02:39 AM
Dizy - I just checked eBay to get an idea of the price of the bottle sets. The "buy it now" prices range from $35-$60, with another roughly $30 or so for shipping since I'm in the U.S. and the sellers seem to be in the UK. At least when I checked, there were a few sets still in the midst of bidding, though, so the sets may go for very different prices than the set "buy it now" ones. Thanks -- Phil

cool coke bottle. but I try not drink much real sugar and even less fake sugar. there is, after all, no minimum daily requirement for refined sugar.
