Our new Steve Penley art exhibit

Yesterday I attended the opening of a new exhibit at the World of Coca-Cola.

When we opened World of Coca-Cola last May, we featured the works of artist Andy Warhol in the Pop Culture Gallery. The Warhol show was in place for one year, and yesterday we unveiled an exhibit by Georgia artist Steve Penley.

Steve has included Coke in his paintings for years, and we’ve been big fans of his work! In fact, one of his paintings has been part of the Pop Culture Gallery since we opened, and we have several of his paintings hanging in our headquarters.

At the World of Coca-Cola, you can see a video that shows Steve’s process in creating a finished piece and learn a bit about him. I hope you have an opportunity to see his artwork in person and watch that video.

Until then, here’s a different video of Steve talking about the reasons he includes Coca-Cola in his artwork, and – best of all – you can see his quirky personality.

Have you seen Steve’s work in World of Coca-Cola? What do you think?

As a hard core coke a cola lover, which I am now 60 years old I have had a coke every day of my life since I can remember. As a little kid grown up in south georgia I remember going to Sunday school and sneaking out and getting a bottled coke for 15 cents. As growing up and getting older, I don't go to a sporting event where I don't have a coke. A day does not go by without me having a coke. Hince I have been a big fan of Steve Penley's ever since his first show in the old warehouse on Marietta Street. As I attended the world of coke exhibit to see how steve has progressed, I was blown away with how AMAZING and how wonderful his paintings were. I have been all over the world and Atlanta, Georgia should be proud to have an artist of this magnitude in their own back yard. As I sat there in amazement of how wonderful this young artist is and huge progressment, I can only imagine how much better he will become in the years to come. As I looked around, people in the exhibit seemed to all light up and bring happiness to the young and old. In closing, Georigia, the South, and University of Georgia should be proud of Steve Penley. It was a real treat to see someone so inspired and so talented and yet also so very humble.

Sea Island Coke Lover - Glad to hear you liked Steve's exhibit at the World of Coca-Cola. We agree he's amazing! -- Phil

Steve Penley is a great guy and a great artist. I cherish his work. He is very real and precious.

Steve Penley is an incredibly talented painter. His bold expressive brush strokes are alive with energy. While I don't particularly share his views (as posted on his website) I think we can all agree he is sincere in his vision which he captures so well on the canvas.

Steve is a great American. He's a genius as evidenced by his work but don't let him know. It might cause him to think he should stop growing his art.

What a talent! There may be no better subsequent exhibit next to Warhol than Steve Penley!
