The 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo
The Olympic Games in Beijing begin next Friday, and I thought you might be interested in something really helpful that Coke did for the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
We produced guide maps, street signs, sightseeing information and a Japanese / English phrase book to help the fans and the journalists get around the city.
The phrase book was so popular that it was used as a model for the 1968 Games in Mexico City, the 1972 Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, and the 1972 Summer Games in Munich, Germany.
Also at the Olympics in Tokyo, this photo shows one of the trucks that delivered six tons of Coke products through the main gate of the Olympic Village – all to refresh the athletes.
