Our Coca-Cola Polar Bear turns 15

One of these innovative commercials was “Northern Lights,” which introduced what would become one of the most popular symbols of our advertising: the
The creator of the “Northern Lights” ad, Ken Stewart, thought about going to a movie and having a Coke. Mr. Stewart saw his dog (which had resembled a polar bear when it was a puppy), thought about polar bears and how they would go to the movies. And the idea for "Northern Lights" was born. In the commercial, the polar bears watch the aurora borealis (the "movie") and drink from bottles of Coke.

Please join me in wishing a Happy Birthday to our bear, who I think doesn’t look a day over 10!

Happy Birthday! I cannot believe it's been that long ago. The "Northern Lights" commercial is still my favorite of all the Holiday commercials. I also loved the "Always Coca-Cola" slogan in general. The song that went with it was so easy to remember!

I love the polar bear commercials but didn't see any this year! Wonder why?
Happy Birthday, didn't realize they had been around that long. Time flies when you enjoy a coke!

I, too, love the Coca-Cola bears. The commercial, "Northern Lights," introduced what would become one of the most popular symbols of Coca-Cola advertising, the animated polar bear. Our thanks to creator, Ken Stewart!

Ask any of my friends what my favorite drink is, and they will tell you it's unquestionably COCA COLA. I've been blessed with great health all my life (until cancer in 2005)and always said to everyone it was because I drank at least one bottle of Coca Cola a day since I was a kid!! I love it!!!

Does the Coca Cola Polar Bear have a name?

Since their introduction I have always connected the Coca-Cola Polar Bears with the Christmas Season. Why don't we see these ads today? I don't think there is any question that these ads appeal across all demographics
