Spotlight On The World Of Coca-Cola - Sandwich Press

W6130-lo

When you visit the World of Coca-Cola you may notice an odd looking contraption in the Logo section of the Milestones of Refreshment Gallery.  This device is an electric toaster or sandwich press from around 1930.  They are fairly valuable collectibles and in excellent condition can be worth more than $ 1,000.

After the sandwich has been prepared, it is placed in the press which toasted the Coca-Cola script logo onto the bread.

The only problem is the logo is incorrect - the word "Coca" and "Cola" are separated and there is no hyphen.

I would love to see one of the chefs with the Cooking with Coke Series at the World of Coke use it in one of their demonstrations.

Years ago, I volunteered my services to organize the Root family storage room inside of the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach. I was sorting through a big box of Coca-Cola items when I came across this sandwich press and one of the museum workers said: "How'd that piece of junk get in here? Let me take it and throw it out." I told her that "that piece of junk" was a 1930s Coca-Cola sandwich press, showing her the logo on the inside. And then I told her: "Don't throw anything out until I see it." And right before she was about to toss the emptied box out, I checked it again and noticed a small envelope that was partially hidden under the bottom of the box flaps. Inside that envelope was a 1900s Coca-Cola bookmark! And I wonder how much rare items are thrown out because of lack of knowledge...

This is an amazing article. There is more information here than we get in a two-year political campaign! And it’s much more interesting!

Thanks for sharing this article...
